Physical education and sports are integral to student life at Kunjir Public School & Jr. College. Our campus boasts excellent sports arenas and facilities to encourage athletic development and teamwork. We have a large playground and multiple courts/fields to support a variety of sports: a cricket and football (soccer) ground, basketball and badminton courts, a volleyball court, as well as a 200-meter athletics track. Students of all ages participate in regular sports periods and specialized coaching sessions after school.Â
Under the guidance of experienced coaches and Physical Education teachers, they train in sports like cricket, football, basketball, athletics, kabaddi, table tennis and more. Emphasis is placed not only on skill development and competitive success, but also on the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and perseverance. Sports events – including annual Sports Day, inter-house tournaments, and inter-school competitions – are highlights of our calendar, where students get to showcase their talent and team spirit.Â
Participation in sports benefits students in myriad ways: it improves their fitness and health, provides a healthy outlet for stress, and teaches important life lessons. Through sports, our students pick up vital life skills like teamwork, discipline, and resilience. which contribute to character development beyond the classroom. We believe a healthy body complements a healthy mind, and our sports program ensures that students get ample opportunity for physical exercise and learn the joy of both friendly play and competitive sport.
Sports Facilities & Programs:
- Outdoor Fields: A lush green field adaptable for cricket and football, complete with practice nets for cricket and goalposts for football. Regular coaching clinics are held for batting, bowling, football drills, etc.
- Courts: Cemented basketball court with high-quality hoops, badminton and volleyball courts with proper markings and nets. Indoor facilities or equipment for table tennis, chess, and yoga are also available for a balanced sports curriculum.
- Qualified Coaches: Professional coaches and trainers supervise practice sessions, ensuring students learn proper techniques – from dribbling and shooting in basketball to track & field techniques in athletics.
- Fitness & Teamwork: Structured physical training sessions focus on overall fitness – warm-ups, conditioning, and drills – building strength and endurance. Team games foster camaraderie and leadership as students often strategize and support each other on the field. As research suggests, regular physical activity enhances not just physical health but also mental alertness and academic performance​, so our students benefit holistically.
